The company
What is NGLTech?
NGLTech is an international technology development and engineering company, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, operating as a group of entities with defined technology, engineering and delivery roles.
We work on surface-production constraints that sit at the edge of the usual operating envelope: weak or liquid-loaded wells, condensate in low-pressure gas, produced sand and compact separation duties.
Where is NGLTech based?
When was NGLTech founded?
Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2009, NGLTech develops its own surface technology, engineers it around the operating duty and supports it after delivery.
Which companies make up the NGLTech Group?
- NGLTech Sdn Bhd Technology and intellectual-property holder, including families jointly owned with PETRONAS, research and development, and licensing.
- O&G Consult Sdn Bhd Engineering services including studies, FEED-stage process engineering and detailed design.
- NGLTech Services Sdn Bhd Project delivery, leasing and operations support for the Group’s technologies, within the agreed project and service scope.
- NGLTech (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd The Group’s Kuching-based Sarawak affiliate for energy projects in the state.

What is NGLTech’s track record?
Engineered, built and delivered: from technology in the field to studies, process packages and support after handover.
3 LPPU installations Offshore Malaysia across two fields, the first in 2014 (3 facilities for PETRONAS).
How is Verdygen related to NGLTech?
Enhanced LPPU™
What is the Enhanced LPPU™?
A surface multiphase wellhead booster for liquid-loaded and shut-in wells.
It handles gas, oil, water and produced sand together, with no gas compressor: the gas is compressed by the rising liquid column while the circulation pump moves liquid.
How does the Enhanced LPPU™ work?
Without the Enhanced LPPU™, a well that has loaded up with liquid stops.
The Enhanced LPPU™ lowers the pressure the wells work against at the wellhead: that is what unloads them, and it keeps them unloaded and flowing.
It boosts the full multiphase wellstream toward header pressure, at up to about five times the suction pressure (absolute pressure ratio).
Which wells is the Enhanced LPPU™ for?
- For wells that still contain producible fluids but can no longer overcome the pressure of the common production header.
- Production boosting for declining wells
- Idle-well reactivation
- Liquid-loaded gas-well unloading
- Low-pressure well testing
- Marginal-field tie-backs
Does the Enhanced LPPU™ have rotating equipment or a compressor?
- The pump moves liquid; the liquid column does the compressing. The circulation pump is rotating equipment. The gas is compressed by the rising liquid column; the circulation pump moves liquid.
- No gas compressor
- No compressor lube or seal oil
What track record is the Enhanced LPPU™ built on?
Enhanced LPPU™ is an enhancement of the LPPU platform: three offshore LPPU installations across two fields, the first in 2014, now re-engineered with the liquid piston.
An enhancement of the field-proven LPPU platform: three offshore installations across two fields, the first in 2014 (3 facilities for PETRONAS). Units are built to order for each well.
What capacity can the Enhanced LPPU™ handle?
Every capacity figure states its suction pressure. Duty falls as suction pressure falls, so every figure we quote states the suction it applies at.
Units are built to order for each well.
What data do you need to screen a well for the Enhanced LPPU™?
- Recent well-test and decline data
- Flowing and shut-in wellhead pressure
- Header or separator pressure
- Gas, condensate and water rates
- Composition, sand and sour components
- Space, fuel gas or platform power
Is my well a fit for the Enhanced LPPU™?
- The well still holds producible fluids. It is for wells that still contain producible fluids but can no longer overcome the pressure of the common production header.
- It boosts the full wellstream. It boosts pressure; it does not separate phases. Where the requirement is clean separated phases, the right answer depends on the duty and is set in the enquiry.
- Surface boosting answers a surface constraint. Where the well is limited by inflow, skin or downhole lift, a surface machine is the wrong intervention.
Does the Enhanced LPPU™ handle produced sand?
- Gas, oil, water and sand together. It handles gas, oil, water and produced sand together, with no gas compressor.
- Fine sand: a Sep-iSYS™ Desander goes upstream. Where fine sand has to come out of the wellstream, the Sep-iSYS™ Desander goes upstream of the unit.
How is the Enhanced LPPU™ supplied?
Can I see an Enhanced LPPU™ running?
Our demonstration and test facility in Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, runs an Enhanced LPPU™ live, 24/7, so operators can watch the liquid-piston cycle at work.

Enhanced LP-CRS™
What is the Enhanced LP-CRS™?
A process that recovers condensate and NGL from low-pressure gas before the remaining gas moves to its onward destination.
The configuration is set per case.
How does the Enhanced LP-CRS™ work?
Without the unit, the heavier hydrocarbons carried in the low-pressure gas go to the flare.
The Enhanced LP-CRS™ takes the gas before the existing pressure valve, recovers condensate and NGL, sends the remaining lean gas back to the flare header and the condensate to the crude.
The flare stays lit.
Which configuration will I get?
What is the LP-CRS track record?
Three LP-CRS units were installed offshore Malaysia between 2017 and 2019.
Is my gas stream a candidate for the Enhanced LP-CRS™?
- The richness of the gas decides the case. The C3+ content is the single biggest lever; below a level the screening study sets against your composition there is not enough liquid in the stream to justify the plant, whatever the gas rate.
- The minimum inlet pressure depends on the configuration. Anyone quoting a single floor without your composition is guessing.
Does the Enhanced LP-CRS™ remove CO₂ or H₂S?
It recovers liquids; gas treating stays separate. It does not remove CO₂ or H₂S.
CO₂ freeze-out is checked against the actual phase envelope in the screening study; high H₂S needs sour metallurgy and a sour-liquids offtake.
What emissions benefit does the Enhanced LP-CRS™ give?
A process that recovers condensate and NGL from low-pressure gas before the remaining gas moves to its onward destination.
Emissions benefit is quantified against your baseline, not ours. We do not publish a percentage.
What data do you need to screen a gas stream for the Enhanced LP-CRS™?
- Gas composition through C7+
- Normal, minimum and maximum rate
- Inlet pressure and temperature
- Current gas destination
- Condensate return route
- Space, utilities and contaminants
Where does the recovered condensate go?
A destination for the recovered liquid. Crude spiking, a stabiliser or storage: the first thing to settle on a gas-only facility.
Sep-iSYS™ Desander
What is the Sep-iSYS™ Desander?
A surface skid that removes produced sand from the full wellstream at line pressure.
It protects downstream chokes, valves, vessels, piping and rotating equipment.
How does the Sep-iSYS™ Desander work?
The Sep-iSYS™ Desander sits in the flowline and removes produced sand from the full wellstream at line pressure, before it reaches the choke, the first bend and the separator.
Fines pass.
Who owns the Sep-iSYS™ Desander intellectual property?
The Sep-iSYS™ Desander intellectual property is jointly owned with PETRONAS.
What separation efficiency or cut size does the desander achieve?
- Particle-size distribution is the sizing gate. Without a d50 and d90 no one can honestly size a desander or promise an efficiency, ours or anyone else’s. If you do not have it, we can test for it.
- The cut size is set per duty. Fines pass. The particle-size distribution sets the cut size the desander has to reach, and the basis is stated per duty.
Where does the Sep-iSYS™ Desander fit?
- Sand is holding the well back. Produced sand that constrains choke opening, erodes equipment or fills vessels is removed from the full wellstream at line pressure.
- It protects the separator. It is a solids technology, not a separation train. It protects a separator; it does not replace one.
- Surface desanding manages a sand rate. Surface desanding manages a rate; it does not contain a formation failure.
- The sand has a route out. If there is no disposal route, there is no project. The sand-wash system is the answer where overboard disposal is permitted.
Is the desander suitable for sour service?
Sour service is assessed to ISO 15156. Sour and corrosive service changes the metallurgy and the cost. Assessed to ISO 15156 against your actual fluid; we do not publish a threshold.
What data do you need to size a desander?
- Particle-size distribution: d10, d50, d90
- Sand production rate
- Gas, oil and water rates
- Pressure, temperature and fluid properties
- Allowable pressure drop and design class
- Space and sand-disposal route
What sand testing is behind the Sep-iSYS Desander?
The sand test rig NGLTech commissioned in 2015 at Technology Park Rawang supported development of the cyclonic sand-removal approach.
Without a d50 and d90 no one can honestly size a desander or promise an efficiency, ours or anyone else’s. If you do not have it, we can test for it.
