First proof is a threshold. Repeat field use requires disciplined screening, engineering and support around the technology.
Offshore Energy Asia 2026
The work between an idea and repeat use.
NGLTech Founder and Managing Director Ir. Aruljothy Suppiah joined the Technology & Innovation panel at Offshore Energy Asia 2026 to discuss what it takes to move technology beyond its first field application.
First proof is a threshold, not the finish line.
A first application can establish that a mechanism works for one duty. The harder task is making the route repeatable: screening the next operating case, defining interfaces, packaging the equipment, testing the design and supporting the asset after handover.
That discipline begins before equipment selection. NGLTech starts with the stream and the constraint (pressure, liquid recovery, sand, space, utilities and host-facility limits), then asks whether the mechanism and the economics fit the actual duty. A straight technical answer may be to proceed, to study further or not to use the technology at all.
Demonstration and validation are part of that route, but they are not substitutes for field engineering. Every application still has to reconcile process conditions, materials, controls, layout, lifting, tie-ins, operability and the owner’s acceptance basis.
A repeatable route
Three questions that keep deployment honest.
Does the physics fit this stream?
Pressure, flow regime, composition and solids behaviour determine whether a concept is relevant before a package is drawn.
Can the host accept it?
Available utilities, control philosophy, deck space, tie-ins and operating windows turn a technology into a field-ready scope.
What happens after handover?
Commissioning, operator understanding, monitoring and lifecycle support are part of repeatability, not an afterthought.
