Choked, not depleted: the case for the region’s idle wells.

NGLTech presented “Choked, Not Depleted” at MENA Wells 2026 in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 13 October. The session was a pre-recorded film followed by a live, remote question-and-answer session.

Free the barrels that do not need a well intervention.

The argument was the one NGLTech made at OWI APAC 2026: a well that has stopped joining the production system is a condition to diagnose, not, by itself, proof that the reservoir is finished. Liquid loading, backpressure and host-facility conditions are not the same as depletion, and they do not lead automatically to the same intervention.

The film followed the mechanism from first principles, then the record behind it. The Enhanced LPPU™ is an enhancement of the LPPU platform: three offshore LPPU installations across two fields, the first in 2014.

The message for the region’s operators was simple: free the barrels that do not need a well intervention, and screen each candidate on its own data before choosing a route.

Our thanks to the MENA Wells organisers for hosting the session and for accommodating the film and the remote Q&A.
